Privacy Policy

What we collect, and what we don't.

Effective date: August 5, 2026

The short version

Coast Notice doesn't have user accounts, doesn't require sign-up, and doesn't run advertising trackers. We don't sell or share personal data with anyone. Browsing this site does not put a tracking cookie on your device.

Information you provide

The Submit page opens a pre-filled email in your own email app (or shows you an address to email directly). We only receive what you choose to send us — typically a name, contact info, and details about an event, business, or notice — and we use it solely to review and, if appropriate, publish the listing. We don't add you to a mailing list or use your email for anything else.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand overall traffic (like which pages are popular). It's cookie-free and doesn't fingerprint or track individual visitors — it reports aggregated counts only, and Cloudflare doesn't sell that data. We don't use Google Analytics or any advertising-network tracking pixel.

Third-party services this site loads

A few pages call outside services directly from your browser. Each is standard, widely used infrastructure — not analytics or advertising:

  • Google Fonts — loads the typefaces used on this site. Google's servers see the request (and therefore your IP address) the same way any font or image host would.
  • OpenStreetMap Nominatim — powers the address search on the Nearby page. If you type in a location, that text is sent to Nominatim's public geocoding service to find its coordinates.
  • QR Server API — generates the QR code on the Submit page. It receives the (non-personal) template link, not anything you type.

We don't control these services' own data practices; their privacy policies apply to how they handle requests sent to them.

Cookies

The public site does not set cookies. A single-purpose session cookie exists only for the site's internal editing tool, used by the people who maintain listings — it's never set for ordinary visitors.

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the effective date above.
